EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 28, 2015) – Edinboro's Vic Avery has been forced to withdraw from this weekend's NWCA All-Star Classic. Avery was scheduled to face Lehigh's Nathaniel Brown in the 184 lb. match in Atlanta on Sunday, November 1.
"Vic had to pull out due to an injury," revealed head coach Tim Flynn. "We expect him back soon." Avery was injured during practice last week and did not participate in this past weekend's wrestleoffs.
Avery earned All-American honors for the first time a year ago with a third place finish at 184 lbs. at Nationals. He ended the year with a 34-7 record. Brown finished second at Nationals last year. He will now face Arizona State's Blake Stauffer.
Edinboro will still be represented at the NWCA All-Star Classic. Redshirt freshman Sean Russell will compete on the undercard, facing Devane Dodens from Life at 125 lbs. Russell is a four-time Georgia state champion while competing for Collins Hill High School. He was 18-8 in open tournaments while redshirting last year.
