CLARION, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference (PSAC) announced today that Clarion's Dominic Rigous has been named the PSAC Wrestler of the Week for Dec. 14. It is the second time in three weeks a Golden Eagle has won the award, with Zack DeLuca winning it two weeks ago.
Rigous went 2-0 at the George Mason duals this past weekend, claiming a key decision against George Mason's Luke Ludke in the early match and pinning Grand Canyon's Austin Trujillo in the Sunday nightcap. The Golden Eagles trailed the Patriots 19-9 in the first team match before Rigous earned an 8-2 decision over Ludke to cut into the lead; the match eventually came down to the last pairing on the mat, thanks in part to Rigous's early victory. The sophomore helped the Golden Eagles clinch a win over the Antelopes later in the day, coming back from a 3-1 deficit to earn a win by fall over Austin Trujillo with just one second left in the second period. Clarion went on to clinch the team match win in the next match.
Rigous currently has a record of 14-7 in 2015-16 and has won four matches in a row. He has lost just once in his last seven matches.
